Swami Veda has been teaching meditation and the science and philosophy of yoga non-stop for almost 60 years. The foremost disciple of Swami Rama of the Himalayas, he continues to bring the teachings of the Tradition of the Himalayan Masters to spiritual seekers around the world, mostly in Europe, south-east Asia and North America. Recently, he has taken the teachings also to Africa, and in 2005 made a historical trip to China.
The Himalayan sage Swami Veda Bharati will have completed 60 years of teaching around the world in February 2007, that is, in eighteen months from now.
To mark the momentous occasion, we (a group of his students, the disciples and initiates of the tradition) have a plan to present to him a volume containing contributions from his students, in the form of recollections, memories, experiences, and anecdotes and any ways that he may affected your life and that of others around you.
The reminiscences may also relate to others, whose identities may, in certain cases, be concealed to protect their privacy.
As a student, you are likely to possess material that might make a valuable addition to the content of the projected volume. Why not dust up your long-held memories, polish them up a bit, and pass them on to us?
We shall bring all material received up to scratch, which might involve some reordering or recasting of text.
A brief biographical sketch (up to sixty words or so) will be tagged on at the end of the written piece. So kindly supply the text for that item as well.
August 5, 2005 is the date from which the editorial team will need to start receiving material and all materials need to be in our hands by DECEMBER 31, 2005.
A large number of Swamiji's students, the world over, have been reciting the Maha Mirtyunjaya Mantra for Swamiji's well being. One mala per day will give you a 100 recitations a day, and 36,500 in a year.
A love offering of a total of one million recitations before February 15, 2007 is contemplated.
If you would like to join the recitation groups, and if you would like to have guidance in the matter of pronunciation, please tell us, and we shall send you a Mantra cassette.
The climax of the programme will be the Fire Offering, on February 15, 2007, at Rishikesh.
