Salvador Dali has his 100th birthday in 2004

Berlin (bpb) "Salvador Dali 100" years is the title of an exhibition of the European Art Foundation, Berlin. It will open in May 2004 at the Museum Europäische Kunst at the Nörvenich Castle near Köln. A continuation of the exhibition is expected to take place at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin. Dali had created a portrait medal of Adenauer as the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as an original etching.

To the works on exhibition of the Hommmage a Dali in the Museum also belongs the largest authentic bronze portrait of Salvador Dali in the world, for which th surrealist stood model for his artist-friend Arno Breker. The Spanish Crown Prince Felipe unveiled the bust several years ago at a special ceremony in the presence of the German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher.

The exhibition in Dali's honor is planned as a travelling exhibition to be shown at other institution such as art societies, art event organizers, and banks. From designs by Dali, numerous medals were minted in silved and gold. They are interesting works of art especially for banks. A part of the exhibition is expected to be shown also abroad, among others at the Museum of European Art in New York. (www.meaus.com)
