The iconic 1970 lip-shaped sofa is based on Salvador Dali's famous Mae West sofa of 1936. The erotic lips of this great Hollywood actress inspired Dalí. A special installation by the master shows the image of the face of May West.
This lip-smacking reinterpretation of the 1970's sofa is now a part of the Royal Dalí Collection of the European Art Foundation. The sofa is seen in the Museum of European Art at Noervenich Castle (Germany) during the exhibition "The Divine Fragrances" about the perfumes of Dalí. (Catalogue $18 only)
The sofa was originally made of polyurethane foam with fabric. The extraordinary and fascinating seat is now available in self-cushioning polymer, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The Museum has one sofa for sale. Size: 210 cm long, 90 cm high. Details on request at info@europaeische-kultur-stiftung.org
