German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the US President Barack Obama at an international conference in France. ABSTRACTION IN THE WORK OF ARNO BREKER, by Henry Moore
Army" by Arno Breker, a bronze figure. It was one of two sculptures at the main entrance into Adolf Hitler's New Reich Chancellry in Berlin. The other sculpture was named "Party". That one represented an athletic figure with a torch, which Breker portrayed as a 'Symbol of the Spirit'. And today we can only guess about this question: From where really comes this figure by Breker? More than 20 years ago, this figure 'Army' , heavily damaged by the Russians during the battle for Berlin, was last seen in a well-known foundry in Berlin. After obvious 'repairs', the bronze figure radiates in its new glory in the German Historical Museum in Bonn, which had been founded during the time of the German Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
